On 9 June, the Members Group Universities within the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) elected a new spokesperson and an expanded group of spokespersons.

Prof. Dr Katharina Riedel (Rector of the University of Greifswald) was elected spokesperson. Prof. Dr Tanja Brühl (President of TU Darmstadt) was elected deputy spokesperson. Rector Prof. Dr Barbara Albert (UDE) was newly elected to the expanded group of spokespersons, whilst Prof. Dr Hauke Heekeren (President of the University of Hamburg) was re-elected.

The term of office begins on 1 December 2026.

Within the HRK’s member groups, discussions take place on issues specific to a particular type of higher education institution. The group of spokespersons prepares the meetings of the member group and represents its interests both within and outside the HRK. Under the HRK’s constitution, the member groups representing universities and universities of applied sciences are integral parts of the organisation.
